Yadawyat El Fayoum

Pottery and basketry are two important local industries for marginalised populations in Fayoum to generate income and improve their economic status. By improving designs, using updated techniques in the production process and promoting marketing, the partner organisation and two local community development organisations are creating production units at village level. These production units provide modern equipment and training to craftspeople to develop their skills and enhance their production. In each village in Fayoum, one product is improved to harness its unique market and promote its competitive advantage for the sake of local residents’ economic independence.
