Youth on the Move

Children and young people in Maasara, a working class industrial area peripheral to Helwan in Cairo, have access to constructive recreational activities that develops skills, personalities and positive communal relationships. The partner works with the local Youth Centre to create a safe space for 150 children and 350 young people to access a wide variety of activities that foster self-confidence, self-expression, curiosity and a love for learning.
The approach aims at broadening the experience, skills and worldview of beneficiaries through visual arts, theatre, music and competitive sports. The children thus have access to life transforming experiences through adventure and exploration in nature where their teamwork and leadership will be nurtured. Omar Samra, renowned Egyptian explorer and adventurer, works closely here with promising young people to lead and support a younger generation to excel.
