This initiative is aimed at providing a boost to youth-led small businesses and microbusinesses in Aswan, with a focus on turning existing local challenges into business opportunities. Agribusiness and the creative sector offer opportunities for young women and men to generate sustainable income and in this way contribute to the overall economic development of the governorate.
Around 30 youth-led enterprises are established and supported up to the point of market access, which maximises the socio-economic return for youth and local communities. Additionally, around 300 local small-scale producers in agri-food, agri-waste and the creative industries are engaged in value chains, with the aim of addressing common challenges and seizing collective opportunities for a higher level of competitiveness than would be possible on their own. The development social enterprise “Enroot” is engaging in a collaboration with Aswan University to promote entrepreneurship among youth and to establish a university-based Business Development Support Unit. This will have the corresponding capacity to provide ongoing assistance for these young entrepreneurs beyond the duration of the project.
