The Nile project

Egypt is facing a challenging era of political, economic and environmental complexity related to water security that requires changes in water consumption, social behaviour and environmental protection. This places the Nile, as Egypt’s main resource for water, at the forefront of the discussion.
Through an innovative approach that combines creativity, youth leadership development and community engagement, the project’s Nile Fellowship Programme will nurture 16 Egyptian students from Aswan and Cairo universities. Those young people will develop leadership skills and receive support in leading their peers and local communities by participating in creative activities that promote civic responsibility towards the Nile River. Additionally, the project will collaborate with NGOs, the private sector and government institutions to provide support for community initiatives that address problems such as cleaning up canals or extending access to clean water sources.
