Social Impact Lab Leipzig

Following the successful establishment of a platform that promotes the creation of social enterprises, the Social Impact Lab Leipzig’s second phase of support involves developing its services in the start-up incubator in line with demand. Its focus is the development of a sustainable strategy that will secures the long-term future of the Leipzig lab (which is currently the only one of its kind in East Germany).
The content of the start-up programmes developed in the first phase will be further developed and expanded. With the help of the Sozial&Gründer programme, each year the Social Impact Lab provides ongoing support for 12 start-up teams as they establish their social enterprises. Throughout the course of the project, the Selbst&Ständig programme helps 120 participants, who are mostly young unemployed people, to overcome hurdles on the road to becoming self-employed.
Over the next few years the Social Impact Lab Leipzig will itself be developing along the lines of a social enterprise. This will lay the foundation for securing the lab’s future as a location for innovative, social ideas beyond the period of support provided by Drosos Foundation.
