Resource Hub for Small Scale Farmers

This pilot project applies an experimental approach introducing a model for collective work among small-scale farmers to test an innovative new value chain to attract youth to agribusinesses. Skills building and implementation coaching is offered to young farmers through 1) introducing goat breeding as a smart and low investment- high return value chain, improving knowledge and practices related to it; and 2) prickly pears farming as a low input crop suitable for feeding goats and extracting additional new products with economic returns. The two interventions complement one another. It is expected that the two interventions will increase the income of 220 small-scale producers and open opportunities for young farmers to establish social businesses within their communities. In addition to the economic potential, the social and environmental impact include attracting youth into agribusinesses, community self-organisation, climate-friendly practices and resilient productions.
