Art is a tool for social change and an entry point for addressing wider community needs in creative ways. The partner organisation, Wekalet Behna for Arts is an art space that builds on cultural work inspired by the history of film production and distribution in the golden era of cinema in Egypt.
The organisation works with emerging artists in deepening their knowledge of Egyptian history and cultural heritage so that they may rethink their lives with greater creativity and have the skills to start their own initiatives. Through these initiatives, the young artists can access opportunities to develop both themselves and their communities.
Wekalet Behna considers cultural industries as a sustainable economic resource and as a way to develop the community.
