The cultural resources management (CRM) sector provides an entry-point for youth from disadvantaged communities to start a career in a sector that is currently undergoing formalisation by the government. Through developing the skills of young people, helping them move into decent work, as well as creating an enabling environment for transforming the sector into a sustainable labour market, the project plays an important role in supporting youth in improving their socio-economic status.
The project trains 84 youth and 48 high school students from disadvantaged communities in the Petra region as part of multidisciplinary teams. As part of the training, the youth participate in practical cultural resources management projects to gain transferable skills and work experience.
The project capitalises on the successful partnership with the Petra Development and Tourism Regional Authority (PDTRA) to institutionalise a scalable training and employment model that will be sustainably accessible for more cohorts of youth in the future.
