“Les jeunes des arts de la scène” is the follow-up to the pilot project undertaken with Théâtre Crochetan, in which participatory theatre projects were tested out and realised in a school residence. The follow-up project takes the form of an annual festival and is being carried out by Association JR in Monthey, Valais.
The aim is to provide young people between the ages of 12 and 25 with access to participatory art projects and the “Festival JR”. The people to whom the project is addressed face challenges in their personal situation, family or social background, or general home circumstances.
Over the course of this project, the participants are active in different areas of the performing arts such as circus, dance or theatre. Throughout the year, they work on their performances in groups and experience different ways of communicating and sharing ideas. The performances as well as other exchange formats between the groups then take place at the annual festival.
In addition to strengthening their artistic expression and personal skills, the Festival JR emphasises the interactions between the realms of the social and the artistic.
