“Kids in dance” is a dance project for around 130 young people between the ages of 13 and 18 who have restricted access to dance projects as a result of their personal situation and surroundings or their place of residence.
The partner is developing and testing a dance format that pursues the following approach: A group of young people meet for several weeks to months and work on a participative choreographed dance routine under the guidance of a ‘dance social worker’. The final piece is then presented in a public theatre. Dance groups are formed for those who want to continue dancing after the performance, and these meet regularly.
This process helps the young people to strengthen their physical awareness as well as their personal and social skills.
Alongside, the partner is building up a network of professional experts who will provide assistance in reaching the respective young people. In the future, this will serve as a multiplier for the dance projects and facilities.
