Politics has failed people around the world, and so naturally cultural outlets have become more and more essential, especially for young people, to express themselves, tell their truth and feel a sense of belonging and connection with the rest of the world. Palestine has been grossly misrepresented in mainstream media, yet Palestine and Palestinians boast incredible cultural heritage – from music and dance to sports and creative economies.
The Jafra Project addresses a number of challenges that hinder the music industry’s growth and prevent it from realising its full potential. Specifically, this includes the lack of adequate business and management resources as well as organised training. The project focuses on enabling 20 young artists to found start-ups in the music industry and create economic opportunities. It further develops the «Gazelle» electronic library collections (music, video clips, documentaries, biographies, books, research and publications) to become the interface for the local music industry. To ensure the continuity of such interventions, the project supports «Tabe3 Fanny» in an organisational and financial capacity, through the development of the Jafra studio serving as a source of income.
