Integration of prisoners into society

Upon release, prisoners often face several challenges including unemployment, lack of legal aid services and social stigma. These factors may make it difficult for them to reintegrate into the community. Women face additional challenges as their families often restrict their ability to make life decisions, or they may be rejected by their family members entirely.
The project will target released prisoners from four prisons in three governorates with a particular focus on women. The aim is to reintegrate them into society by empowering them socially and economically. The partner organisation offers social and legal support services, as well as temporary shelter for women rejected by their families. Additionally, a community-based enterprise has been set up to support skills development and job creation. The project also works with the Prisons Directorate within the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the local community and the media to create an enabling environment and ensure the longevity of the project.
