Female Music LAB is a project to promote new talent and empower girls and young women in the field of pop, rock and jazz music. Around 300 girls and young women aged 12 to 25 will gain greater conviction and self-confidence to engage more with the technical aspects of music production and come to see this as part of the creative process. 15 professional, female musicians are being trained to become coaches. They will lead courses for the young women in DJing, music production and song writing and will then help them to put this into practice. This includes publishing song elements online and performing at regional or national events.
Once the project ends, the courses are meant to continue independently. Eight locations across Switzerland are being set up for this purpose. In support of this, awareness-raising campaigns are being held, as well as follow-on networking and training programmes for the coaches.
