Gründungslabor Weimar

In contrast to its world-famous image as a city of culture, Weimar, like many eastern German cities, is struggling with a declining birth rate, an aging population and segregation. Young people in particular have only limited prospects for the future so that students, for example of the prestigious Bauhaus University, are mostly not settling down in Weimar because of a lack of job opportunities.
The “Gründungslabor Weimar” is a start-up lab that emerged from the national program “Post-Corona City” and was able to pilot itself successfully with the help of the DROSOS FOUNDATION’s “Kulturhanse” programme.
Gründungslabor Weimar provides support for creative, sustainable and social entrepreneurs and initiatives that want to solve the challenges of our time. The demand for start-up know-how, consulting and networking services, the organisation offers, has shown to be high, so a consolidation seems promising.
Further, the partner establishes an educational programme with activities for children and youth to promote an entrepreneurial spirit. Another objective of the project is to enable the legal spin-off of the parent organisation “Stadtverwicklung gUG” to develop a sustainable and resilient organisational structure.
