The district of Grünau in Western Leipzig exemplifies several demographical challenges of contemporary Eastern Germany: high vacancies, an aging population, and an influx of low-income residents, often with a migratory or refugee background, causing social issues and uncertain prospects. The tested “Grand Beauty” initiative by Interventionsbüro tackles these problems through beauty treatments provided by experienced experts, mainly women with a migratory or refugee background. It serves as a platform for transcultural encounter and exchange, intergenerational connections, and work integration.
With DROSOS’s support, Interventionsbüro expands the “Grand Beauty” concept, training more beauty experts, sharing acquired knowledge, and implementing a workshop programme for schools.
