Nida Society, a local not-for-profit organisation, adopts a holistic and systemic approach in working with children with multiple disabilities to build their life skills and discover their talents. Through the use of various creative and learning activities children with disabilities become abled individuals integrating into society. The partner works in collaboration with Perkins International Academy, an international expert on disability, to develop and accredit a child-centred learning programme for children with disabilities.
Thus, the project provides quality child-learning opportunities in ten public classrooms by qualified facilitators. At the same time, Nida Society advocates child-friendly policies with Ministries of Education and Social Solidarity for integrating children with disabilities in formal and informal learning opportunities. Lastly, by working with civil society organisations and families, the capacity to deal with and tackle the stigma attached to children with disabilities is enhanced.
